The LSIP team has been working with Clean Growth UK, at University of Brighton, on a project around NetZero and Green Skills.
This project has been undertaken as part of our actions with the LSIP Improvement Framework under the Intelligence theme to ‘Build on the sector deep dives with a particular focus on skills for NetZero and climate change; and equality, diversity and inclusion’.

Recruiting and Retaining a Diverse workforce
The LSIP team has now completed the project which has built on the sector deep dives undertaken as part of the LSIP development.
This project has a particular focus of improving Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) knowledge and understanding in businesses to improve workforce skills and practices to recruit and retain staff.
Our aim was to delve deeper into the realms of Equalities, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) within the local business community to research and report on examples of good practice in local businesses.

The LSIP team have now finalised this research and report as a key action within the LSIP Intelligence theme of the Future Skills Sussex Improvement Framework to "Build a picture of existing programmes to support people with Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND) and those from disadvantaged groups into employment within key sectors".

We are pleased to share our recent Learner Focus Project report with our partners and businesses across the Sussex area.
The Learner Focus Project report contains background, key findings and suggested actions from a short project that was undertaken due to a gap we identified in our intelligence during the development of the LSIP report. Throughout the LSIP process we have spoken to employers and providers but had not yet engaged with learners. The aim was to undertake a series of workshops with learners and adults seeking employment in order to hear their views on employability skills and future employment.
Sussex Skills Taxonomy is an interactive resource that shows the skills requirements of job roles across the Sussex area.
Sussex Skills Taxonomy is a tool that has been developed by NESTA working in partnership with Future Skills Sussex during the LSIP Trailblazer in 2022. The skills taxonomy demonstrates the skills required for job roles across Sussex.
This careers resource provides a visual of the skills that are related to a particular job role within a sector.
The skills taxonomy was put together as part of a wider project undertaken by NESTA for an Open Jobs Obsertavory for Sussex during the Sussex LSIP Trailblazer process in 2022. For the full report see here.

This resources collates the skills data and intelligence available from LSIP partners across the Sussex area, along with information regarding the skills conversations taking place through meetings, networks and groups in Sussex.
The matrix has been produced with support from our core partners. It aims to provide a comprehensive resource of existing employer led "conversations" and "intelligence" relating to all things skills and workforce development, across the whole of the Sussex area.
We hope the matrix will support local education providers, employers, and strategic leaders to access skills intelligence sources, gain an understanding of the skills conversations landscape and to help identify opportunities for collaboration and sharing of resources.
As part of the LSIF project, FE Sussex are implementing a range of technologies to enhance teaching and learning.
The LSIF project's Immersive Classroom offers students, local residents, and businesses the chance to explore realistic working environments and cutting-edge technologies that would otherwise be inaccessible without traveling beyond the college.
This project supports both the Offer Theme and Conversations Theme priorities and action within the Future Skills Sussex Improvement Framework.
The Bodyswaps implementation is part of the LSIF project.
This pioneering initiative, utilising virtual reality (VR) and artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance soft skills training.
As part of the LISF projects being undertaken by FE Sussex have developed innovatively delivered training and CPD for employers.
This provision is flexible, responsive, accessible, and includes online courses, events, evening workshops, modular courses, hybrid programmes, webinars, and VR activity.
The colleges involved in the project have developed the provision in response to the LSIP priorities and actions under the Innovation Theme of the Future Skills Sussex Improvement Framework.
Recognising local employment challenges highlighted in the Sussex LSIP, FE Sussex is seeking innovative ways to align job seekers' skills with employers' needs
The app will also focus specifically on the Sussex region rather than UK-wide, promoting vacancies within the sectors crucial to the future economic success of the area and which the Future Skills Sussex LSIP report identifies. Also see the resource on the Landed app for more details
